Denim!
Denim is and probably always will be trendy! Right now, the monochromatic look is in, which includes denim on denim! Seriously, I have received numerous compliments from both girls and guys on this look! I had a guy walk up to me and say, “I’m loving this denim – on – denim look!” I think it’s simply because the monochromatic look is eye catching! I know, sometimes, it can be intimidating because you don’t know which denims can go together, but it’s simple and a super chic look!
How to Wear It?!
All you have to do is make sure your two denims are either super matchy-matchy, meaning exactly alike. OR, make sure they are very different! In my case, I went with two very different denims.
I absolutely love this chambray top and I get tons of compliments on it. Chambray tops are in and you can find them anywhere! Because they are so common, I wanted to buy one that was a little unique, so I opted for ruffles.

I think there are three ways you can approach buying a basic item.
How to Buy Basics
- Get something that is really good quality with excellent fit.
- Get something cheap because it looks like every other basic piece.
- Get the basic piece, but with an added element or detail that makes it unique. You can read more about that in this blog post.
Generally, I go for option 1 and 3. I believe quality, fit, and detail are important. Price is important, but I don’t like to compromise on quality or fit.
In case you’re wondering, these are my favorite jeans of all time (and I’ve tried on a TON of jeans…I work in the denim department…). They are Joie, but currently out of stock!! The bag is Dooney & Bourke, which I inherited from a family member. It was never used, so it’s in pristine vintage condition! The shoes are Keds – my favorite!
